OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The Journal of Religion and Culture (JRC) is seeking papers related to the social scientific study of religion and/or culture for its upcoming 32nd edition. We welcome papers from any discipline that make use of any theoretical approach and engage with this edition’s theme RE: Missing Perspectives.
Volume 32 of the Journal of Religion and Culture (JRC) will be partnering with the Annual Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference (AGIC) hosted by Concordia University’s Department of Religions and Cultures in collaboration with McGill University’s School of Religious Studies.

Possible areas of exploration include (but are not limited to) the intersection of religions, cultures, and:
- Re-membering and Re-storying: revisiting and reconstructing pasts
- Re-turn to Pilgrimage: journeys back to origins, sites, or selves
- Re-settlement and Re-building: Diasporas, Displacements, and Community Repair
- Re-negotiated Belonging: Emigration and Refuge
- Re-becoming: Recovery and Self-discovery
- Re-visions: Ritual, Rites, and Psychedelic
- Re-imagined Temporalities: pasts, futures, and the present in media
The JRC is a peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Department of Religions and Cultures at Concordia University and is especially committed to publishing the work of graduate students and early-career scholars. Explorations of diverse methodological approaches, historical periods, traditions, and geographic locations are strongly encouraged. We are interested in research that challenges boundaries and exhibits a novel approach, methodology, and/or interpretation.
The JRC is also looking for book reviews for the upcoming edition. Book reviews should be critical and investigative readings of new and exciting publications in religious studies and/or other related fields. The deadline for all submissions (articles and book reviews) is July 15, 2026. Papers and book reviews are to be submitted using the online submission form at www.jrc-concordia.ca/submit. Be sure to read the guidelines in detail on our website; papers and book reviews that fail to adhere to the submission guidelines may be rejected.
